The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation announced the return of the Chevron Scholar Athlete of the Week program, designed to support local student-athletes in their pursuit of higher education. Now in its eighth year, this initiative will provide scholarships and recognition to outstanding high school seniors from the Greater New Orleans region.
Chevron is once again partnering with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation to honor students who have excelled both at their sport and in the classroom. Each week, one student-athlete will be selected to receive the prestigious Chevron Scholar Athlete of the Week award, along with a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice.
“As a former teacher, I understand the importance of honoring young men and women for their hard work both on the court and in the classroom,” said Leah Brown, Public Affairs Manager for Chevron. “We’ve partnered with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation for years and have seen firsthand the tremendous positive influence the organization has on local youth. Chevron is proud to support their Scholar Athlete of the Week program which highlights these students’ excellence. Backed by their discipline and dedication, we know these young men and women - in both their sport and their studies - will continue to succeed.”
