Junior wide receiver JaMarr Chase of Archbishop Rummel has been selected as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week in metro New Orleans for the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club, SportsNOLA.com, WHNO TV 20, WGSO, 990 AM and Friday Night Football.
Chase smashed a pair of school records as the Raiders downed Class 3A power University High 28-14 in the season opener for both teams. The game took two nights to complete, due to inclement weather Friday evening.
The junior broke the record for receiving yards in a game with 239, eclipsing the previous Rummel record of 220, and broke the record for touchdown receptions in a game with four, surpassing the previous record of three. Chase also carried once for 12 yards.
Chase is coached by Jay Roth. He will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Dec. 13 at The Cannery.
